As per SSC notification published on 1st of July, English had only English comprehension  in it’s syllabus.

Because of this confusion an RTI filed by a dedicated SSC teacher. Recently, SSC had replied to an RTI Application, regarding the SSC CGL tier 1 English syllabus. The best part in that reply is that, SSC had even given the Topic wise distribution of marks for English syllabus.

English comprehension means to SSC is Candidates’ ability to understand correct English. Purpose of  new SSC CGL English pattern is to test understanding and writing ability of candidate. Questions will be based on sentence improvement, error correction, cloze test, synonyms, antonyms, miss-spelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution. You can look in the following page If you looking for any help with preparation of SSC CGL exam or coaching. New pattern for SSC CGL is out as per notification published by SSC on 1st july.

According to the new SSC CGL 2016 Exam Pattern, the exam will now be conducted in 4 stages –

  • Tier I (Computer based Prelims)
  • Tier II (Main)
  • Tier III (Descriptive)
  • Tier IV ( Computer Proficiency Test).

What Remained unchanged in SSC CGL 2016 Exam Pattern

  1. The marking schema for Tier II exam remains same.
  2. The subjects, marks and timing of the Tier II exam remains unchanged.
  3. The fourth stage is only qualifying and is only applicable to certain posts.
  4. Document verification will be conducted as per the provisions of the notification.
  5. The final merit will be prepared on overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.
  6. There will be no sectional cut-off in any tier.

Changes in SSC CGL Tier I (Computer Based) –

  • First change is that this is a computer based exam, previously SSC used to be a pen and paper based exam.
  • A total of 100 questions will be asked and time limit will be 75 minutes.
  • Paper will be BILINGUAL – available in both English and Hindi. You can choose any one medium even at the middle of examination.
  • SSC CGL Tier-1 Revised Pattern

While the Syllabus for other subjects remains the same, English syllabus has changed this time.

Changes in SSC CGL Tier II

  • Only change is Tier two is that it will be a computer based examination in place of OMR based examination.
  • A candidate can’t qualify for tier 3 or tier 4 unless he passes tier 2 examination.

 

Changes in SSC CGL Tier III and IV

A new pen and paper based tier III exam has been introduced as SSC CGL Tier III. This paper will consist of essay writing, letter, application and precis.
